We have several opportunities for internships in programs related to tropical plant conservation. Recent intern projects include:

  • Identification and mapping of the collections at Zoo Miami
  • Horticultural assistance to plant orchids and tropical plants throughout The Kampong
  • Monitoring the Cutler Slough Rehydration Project at Deering Estate
  • Conservation projects with FIU faculty

Internship opportunities are offered for FIU undergraduate students who are enrolled in either Biological Sciences or Earth and Environment tracks. Qualified students should possess an interest in conservation of plants and/or animals, and have basic knowledge of ecological research principles and procedures. Students must be self-motivated and willing to assist in research and work-related duties. Students must enroll in 0-3 internship credits with their department.
